Thank you for visiting our shop and choosing to get a tattoo with us! We appreciate your time and trust!
Remove the wrap 2-3 hours after getting your tattoo. If you received your tattoo late at night, you can leave the bandage on overnight. We prefer you keep the bandage on a bit longer than to remove it in an unsanitary environment. DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo under any circumstances.
After taking off the bandage, wash your hands and gently clean the tattoo with mild antibacterial (unscented) soap and lukewarm water. Avoid soaps that contain micro-beads or have any fragrances. Allow the tattoo to air dry completely. If you're in a hurry or have a large tattoo, you can gently dab it dry with a clean paper towel. DO NOT rub the tattoo or use any fabric that is dirty or rough.
For the first 3 to 4 days, wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Allow the tattoo to dry completely. Once dry, apply a small amount of ointment to the tattoo. Since tattoos need air to heal, be sure to use only a thin layer of ointment. General range is to wash 1-3x a day.
After the 3rd or 4th day, your tattoo may start to peel and/or flake. It might appear ashy, crusty, and dry, but this is completely normal! DO NOT scratch or pick at the skin! The skin will naturally peel and shed on its own. During this period, switch from ointment to a mild, unscented, non-pigmented lotion. Continue the cleaning process, and instead of using ointment, moisturize with lotion.
Leave the film on for 3 to 5 days (or as many days as recommended by your artist).
During these 3-5 days with the film on, it is important to still take precaution. If you are working, we recommend to take it easy or lessen movement based on where the tattoo is. AVOID physical activities (e.g. gym), outdoor exposure or activities, exposure to dirty surfaces or environments.
During this period, the tattoo may appear blurry due to excess blood and/or plasma that may seep from the skin. It might look like a blob of ink, but this is completely normal! After the advised duration, gently remove the film with clean hands (we suggest doing this in the shower!). With CLEAN HANDS, wash the tattoo using mild antibacterial (unscented) soap and lukewarm water. Allow the tattoo to air dry; if necessary, PAT it dry with a clean paper towel. Once the tattoo is fully dry, apply a very small, thin layer of ointment. Since tattoos need air to heal, ensure the layer is thin. If the ointment feels wet, sticky, or clumpy, you’ve applied too much ("LESS IS MORE") Repeat the cleaning and ointment application process 1-3x daily.
Once the tattoo begins to peel and flake, replace the ointment with a non-scented, non-pigmented lotion. Continue the cleaning and drying process, using the fragrance-free lotion instead of ointment. Repeat this process 1-3x times daily as needed for at least 2 weeks or until it's fully healed.
